Hello and welcome to another day of our MFT December Release Countdown. Only two more days until the release. We've shared a lot of fun new products for the last few days and we have a wonderful bunch to share today as well.
Idea:
- I was in the mood for watercolor markers and wanted to created a sweet little scene with the new Let's Curl Up stamp set featuring these a-dor-able foxes. As much as I love adding images using foam tape, one layer cards are much easier to send, so I simply did some stamping and coloring.
Instructions:
- stamp the images onto watercolor paper using a water resistant ink. As I was going for the no-line coloring technique, I chose a light brown ink.
- color your images with watercolor markers and a water brush. Add color where you want your shadows to be and then spread the ink to brighten up the lighter areas. I have a video on YouTube where I colored another fox using the same coloring process using watercolor markers. The video is not with the no-line technique, so if this isn't your cup of tea, the water color marker coloring might still be something you'll enjoy.
- add details with colored pencils and white gel pen, like I did for the fur or on the mushrooms
- now for the background: add a line of ink to define the horizon and pick up the ink with a water brush, spread the ink unevenly over the panel to create the sky. If needed, add more ink to the edges of the image and spread it again with water until you like the result.
- add a bit of ink to a slick surface like a glass mat or a piece of plastic and pick it up with your water brush to paint some shadows to the snow
- let your panel dry and then stamp the sentiment
Tip:
- spreading blue ink unevenly on your watercolor paper creates a fun look for the sky. You can create kind of a frosted look or a cloudy sky this way.
Now it's time to hop over to the MFT Blog to see more new goodies that will be available soon!
