Peace, Love & Paws * MFT Countdown (2)

Hello and welcome to another day of our MFT September Release Countdown. Only two more days until the release!

For todays card, I created a cute little city scene with the adorable critters from the Peace, Love and Paws set. And how cool is that background stamp?!

For this card, I started with the critters. I had no idea where this card would go but I knew, I wanted to put many critters on it. I stamped, colored and die cut the cats and dogs using Graph'it alcohol markers and alcohol marker friendly ink and paper.

I do not mind fussy cutting at all but having the coordinating dies on hand definitely saved me some time. I always color first and die cut second (which is a risky thing to do and I probably shouldn't but I automatically do it anyway 😂) BUT that moment when they come out perfectly cut from the die cutting machine... I love it. It's so easy to align them with the MFT coordinating dies, so I'm still safe with my workflow. But now back to the card 😉.

As I was moving the critters around on my card base, I thought that the City Block Background would be a fun combo. So I stamped it in light brown Distress Oxide ink on white card stock. To smoothen it a bit, I added the same Distress Oxide ink color using a blending tool to the background piece. I added more color to the edges and kept it very light in the center. I cut the panel to size and glued it to my card base. Now, the cats and dogs had to have a ground to stand on. I thought a dark gray ground would match the city feel well. It was also perfect to place a white heat embossed sentiment on it and that's just what I did. Then, I glued it to my background piece.

Now, I moved my critters around the background again until I found a layout I really liked. I adhered them with foam tape (which I should have done later but I didn't know that at that moment 😉). I liked the card as it was but I felt like something was missing. I tried to add some die cut foiliage hanging from the top of the card but that didn't work. That was when the Tree Trio came in super handy. I die cut them and because the critters were already adhered with foam tape, I hat to cut some parts of the trees off to tuck them behind the cats and dogs. To finish up my card, I added a lot of white gel pen dots to add some falling snow.

I hope you got inspired to make a fun critter-filled card or use a cool background stamp to complete your scene... Hop over to the MFT Blog to see more new goodies that will be available soon and the beautiful projects my fellow DT members made!

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a happy day,
Nicole
