to a new Wednesday Sketch Challenge inspiration. Todays sketch inspired me to use this pretty Tall Tag die, that is one of my favorites to create bookmarks.
I started by stamping, coloring and die cutting the four images. I used watercolor paper, a water resistant ink, Faber Castell Watercolor Markers and the coordinating dies. Then, I added some details using a white gel pen.
Now for the tag. I created a watercolor background and die cut the tag from it. For this step, I took a scrap piece of watercolor paper and painted some loose stripes using light brown. I painted the stripes around the middle of the paper, where I wanted the sand part of my tag to be the darkest. Then, I added water using a paint brush and spread the color, getting lighter as I go towards the bottom. I let the light brown dry and added dark blue where the ocean will be. I also added water to spread the color. Again, I let everything dry to add the sky. I added just a little of light blue and spread it evenly with a water brush. When it was completely dry, I painted an island by hand. I added some white paint details to the shore and let it dry.
I die cut the tag from the watercolor panel and set it aside. I took another watercolor paper and painted three stripes using my watercolor markers. I used a paint brush to spread the paint just a little to create these background stripes.
After the background stripes were dry, I glued the tag in place and used a craft knife to cut the tags hole from the background panel. I glued the background panel to my card base and again cut the hole from the card base, so that I could add the ribbon. I added the images using foam tape and glued down a sentiment strip to finish up my card.
I hope you got inspired to create your own watercolor backgrounds and/or to play along our fun challenge!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a colorful day,
Nicole

Such a wonderful. Great idea to go on with the background beside the tag. I love it. Greetings Marja
