Ahoi, Mate! * MFT Vault (1)

Ahoi and welcome to the second day of our August Vault Release Countdown.

We have a bunch of oldies but goodies that are coming back to the store and I'm so excited about all of them. But the one I used for todays card is one of my favorites. I just adore these cute pirates so much and my boys love them as well.

First, I stamped, colored and die all cute the cute images. I used alcohol marker friendly paper and ink as well as my Graph'it markers. I really enjoy coloring images like these. They are so fun and I love finding cool color combos for them.

After all the coloring was done, I went for the background. I masked off the ocean and the sand to create the sky. I used one of the cloud stencils and some Distress Oxide inks for this easy step. Next, I masked off the sky and tore some masking tape in two, so I would get a tattered edge. I used this piece of tape to mask off the sand. This way, I could ink blend the ocean and got a cool edge for the shore. I removed the masking tape and did the third ink blending step: the sand. I started at the bottom of my panel and got softer with the color towards the shore, leaving a small white gap between the ocean and the sandy part. I cut the panel to size and glued it to my card base.

Next, I used a white gel pen and drew some tiny lines and dots on the oceans horizon to create the look of water sparkling in the sun. After that, I adhered all the images using foam tape or glue. I stamped two birds and the sentiment in black and my card was done.

I hope you got inspired. If you would like to see more Vault products that are coming back soon, check out the MFT Blog. There's also much more inspiration to see from the Design Team!
