The newest Paper Smooches Challenge is here and we would love to see your flower cards. I went for one of my first stamp sets I got from Paper Smooches. Best Buds is a classic for me and I enjoyed coloring this pretty image a lot.
I started by stamping the vase with the flowers on watercolor paper using Versafine Onyx black ink. I covered the ink with clear embossing powder and used a heat tool to melt the powder. This makes the watercoloring process so much easier because it helps me stay inside the lines. I did the same for the banner. I used a scrap piece of the same watercolor paper.
Now for the coloring. I simply picked my watercolors and a small brush and did some relaxing coloring. When I was done with the vase, I added a light gray ground for my flowers to stand on. I also colored the banner, let it dry and cut it out by hand. To add a little interest to my simple background, I covered the vase with a scrap piece of paper and spritzed some light blue watercolor splatters on my panel.
To finish up my card, I stamped the greeting inside the banner, covered it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. This would make sure the sentiment has the same style like all the other stamped parts of my card. I cut my panel a bit smaller and glued it to a warm gray card base. I added the banner using foam tape and my card was done.
I hope you got inspired. Check out the Paper Smooches Blog for more inspiration and information on how to play along. You could also win a gift card to the store! How cool is that?!
Thanks a lot for stopping by!
Have a happy day,
