The newest Paper Smooches Challenge is here and we would love to see your thank you cards. I have a special project for this occasion. I recreated my the very first card I posted on Instagram. Sometimes it's fun to look at older projects and have a remake.
Step no. one was to stamp the vases with Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen. I used a stamping tool (like the MISTI), because it makes the next step so much easier. To add some shadows, I used tiny sponge daubers (the ones that you can put on your fingers) and added a darker brown shade of Oxide Ink to some parts of my stamps. Next, I stamped the darker shade on top of the first layer to create a 3D look.
Then, I let the ink dry and masked off the two vases that have greenery inside. I simply put a post-it at the edge of my stamped images for the quickest masking ever ;-) Now, I was able to stamp the stems and leaves to make them look like they are standing inside the vases. I did the same process like before to get some shadows on the leaves using a darker ink and mini sponge daubers. And same for the flower. I stamped it in pink and added a darker purple ink to the edges. Then, I removed the post-it and let the ink dry again.
Because I wanted some even darker shadows and some details, I went in with some colored pencils. You can see the super thin lines I added to the leaves or at the openings of the vases. Small details like this can make your clean and simple cards more interesting. I also added an enamel dot to the center of the flower and stamped my greeting with black ink. I felt like the dark shelf from my original card was to heavy, so I masked off the vases and added a bit of gray ink blending to give my images a place to stand on.
This is the very first card I posted on Instagram on August 20th 2015. I still like most of it but changed some details. And I'm happy I thought myself to take better photos ;-)

I hope you got inspired. Check out the Paper Smooches Blog for more inspiration and information on how to play along. You could also win a gift card to the store! How cool is that?!
Thanks a lot for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day,
Nicole
