to a new Wednesday Sketch Challenge inspiration. I got inspired by all the wonderful rainbow cards I saw lately. These colors just make me happy.
I started by die cutting rainbow colored stripes with the Straight-Up Rainbow die set. Next, I die cut the tag and the background piece. Although the Cover-Up die is called Mistletoe, I feel like it makes a great background all year round.
I glued the rainbow colored stripes to a scrap piece of paper. I cut away the access scrap paper and glued my stripes onto the tag. I cut off the access striped paper and set these pieces aside, because I wanted to use them later. You can see them on the photo peeking out from behind the tag.
Next, I stamped, colored and die cut the cute elephant and his bird friend. Because I wanted to make the rainbow colors pop, I only used gray pencils on my stamped images and simply colored the shadows. I also stamped the greeting on black paper and did some heat embossing with white embossing powder and cut it using one of the Skinny Strips dies.
And now it's time to assemble the card. First, I glued the background on a white piece of card stock. Then, I added the scrap rainbow pieces to the back of my tag using foam tape and glued the tag to the background. I added the sentiment strip and the animals to the tag using foam tape again. I felt like something was missing, so I added some twine to the tag and my card was done.
