Snappy Birthday * Sweet Peek Week Day 1

Hi there and welcome to the first day of SugarPea Designs release week. We'll share sneak peeks everyday until release day on January 24th. :-)

My first card features the super fun Lator Gator stamp set. You can create so many adorable cards with this alligator and all the cool accessories.

I started by stamping and coloring my alligator, the balloon and the tiny butterflies. I used Spectrum Noir markers and a white gel pen for some details. Next, I masked off his feet to do some ink blending for the ground. After removing the mask, I used colored pencils to paint the shadows.

I wanted the card to have a lot of white and I could have left it just as it was but I wanted to create the look of trees, like the alligator was walking trough a park or so. The stencil came in super handy for the idea I had in mind and I used different shades of green Distress Oxide inks to ink blend my leafy trees.

This is almost a one-layer card. So I wanted to add a bit more interest and did some die cutting to give my card a pretty frame. I glued my panel on a teal card base and stamped the sentiment in crisp black ink.
