Yay! It's release day at My Favorite Things and we have some MFT friends over to share loads of inspiration with you.
My card features the adorable Polar Penguins stamp set again. How cute is the decorated igloo?! I went for an icy polar night scene with lots of ink blending.
As I often do, I started by stamping and coloring my images. I used my colored pencils to add color and die cut the penguin, the gift and the igloo with the coordinating dies.
To create the background, I used four shades of Distress Oxide Inks: Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Faded Jeans and Black Soot and the Drifts & Hills stencil. I started with the sky and my lightest color. I covered the entire sky with Tumbled Glass. Then, I added Salty Ocean starting at the edges and working my way in but leaving the center as light as possible. I did the same with Faded Jeans but I added it just around the edges. To finish the blending for the night sky, I added just a bit of black at the very edge of the panel. I spritzed some water on my panel and dabbed it away with a paper towel to create the look of snow.
To create the snowy hills, I used the stencil again as well as Tumbled Glass and (a tiny bit of) Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink. I felt like a silver embossed greeting would go well with the scene and it added just the right amount of bling to keep the card simple.
