Playing along challenges has always been super fun to me. I love to get inspired by sketches, color combos or topics. It helps me get started and try out new things. The current Lawn Fawnatics challenge is all about cards for guys and I thought it's time for another card for my wonderful husband. He's the best dad for our two little boys!
I started by stamping the lighthouse and the sailboat with a very light gray ink. Then, I drew some guidelines with a pencil to help me while coloring. I colored everything (except for the sky) with Spectrum Noir markers and added details with colored pencils. I finished up the card by inkblending the sky with Distress Oxide inks and stamping the greeting in black.
Drawing scenes like this has always been intimidating for me but there are so many talented people out there that inspired me to just go for it. I really like how it turned out and I want to encourage you to try something new from time to time. You can watch YouTube videos and ask your crafty friends to get started. It could be a lot of fun :-)
