hip, hippo, hooray! * MFT Sketch Challenge 334

Hi there!

Welcome to a new sketch challenge by MFT! Today, I have a soft pastel card for you. I'm in love with the heavy weight translucent vellum at the moment... it's so versatile.

This card is actually pretty simple to make. My background is just a piece of pretty pattern paper and some circle die cuts from some white card stock and heavyweight vellum. My cute little critters are all colored with alcohol markers and some colored pencils for the details. I cut them out and arranged them with the "bubbles".

That was actually the most time consuming part of the process. I wanted to find the "perfect" (to me) balance for this card so I moved all the parts around (and even asked some friends for help - THANK YOU, ladies!!!) until I liked the look. After that, it got easier again, I just had to glue everything down and add some sequins.

Now, hop over to the MFT Blog and join us at the current Sketch Challenge :-D

Thank you so much for stopping by!
Have a colorful day,

The patterned paper I used is now retired but there are many other pretty papers by MFT you could use for a card like mine.

  1. I love the look of the bubbles! It's reassuring to know that even for a designer as talented as you are, getting things arranged just right takes a lot of time. I can spend hours tweaking the placement of elements, trying to find the best arrangement.
