birthday penguin * MFT Summer School

Yay! Part two of MFTs Summer School has started and the first topic is "monochromatic". Part one was so much fun, so I couldn't resist playing along the second time as well. :-)

Usually, if I have to pick just one color, I would chose a mint or teal shade. But this time, I got inspired by some beautiful coral MFT pattern paper. You can see the paper that inspired me on the penguins pants. I did some paper piecing and Distress Ink blending on them.

The Distress Ink color "abandoned coral" matched just perfectly with the paper. I used it on the background and on the die. I die cut the happy birthday circle three times, glued all three pieces together and added Distress Ink for an ombré look. To add some interest, I used the stitched strip die, some sequins and some confetti. Lucky me, the confetti had the perfect color as well.
